In spite of all adversity, real or imagined. In spite of all opposition, competition, or nay-sayers. To never fold under a discouraging day or trial. To keep going, day after day, objectively. That is how startup businesses succeed.

Quitters never win. And quitting seems like the best option when success and results are not immediately forthcoming - but you must not give in!

Success in any new venture takes time, effort, and determination. Millionaires are not made millionaires overnight. The success you achieve takes time, effort, determination and perseverance.

Start by Defining Priorities

Get a grip on your priorities as soon as you start designing your own home based business. Stay focused on what you’d like to achieve as a final outcome, keep your eyes on the prize and keep moving forward.

Define the areas of life that are most important to you. More time with family? Less time with a boss looking over your shoulder? Financial independence? Riches? Or to simply ‘get by’ while you stay at home to raise your children?

Many people starting up a home based business have trouble with accountability. They think they can remain focused and work diligently all day but without a boss, they find they lack the motivation to actually work. If this rings true with you, you’ll need to make some changes to your work ethic quickly or risk failure. To be successful in your own home based business you must possess the ability to push yourself onward no matter how tough the road. Persevere! Stay determined. And grow to be successful.

How and Why to Stay Focused

Staying focused on what you want to achieve with your business (as well as life) can be difficult at times. It helps to network with a mastermind of other home based business owners to stay motivated, on track, and gain fresh ideas and perspective. Indecisiveness is stressful, especially when facing adversity alone.

Focus on your goals and priorities, and revisit them at times. Write a list and hang it on your wall over your phone, desk or computer.

Being your own boss is rewarding, but not always easy.

The rewards are many. You won’t have to miss out on your children’s school activities, nor will you have to work when your family needs you. You can take a vacation at a time convenient to you. You choose when to work and where to work. If you run a service based business you can even choose your clients.

At the end of the day, make focus and perseverance friends that you visit daily. Soon they become a habit - a part of you. And they’ll take you to the success you want with your home based business.
